Christmas Day in Windhoek was marked by the joyful arrival of six newborns at the Katutura Intermediate and Central hospitals.

Four baby girls and one bouncing baby boy were delivered at the Katutura Hospital Maternity Ward, while the Central Hospital saw the arrival of a baby boy.

The first cries of the Christmas babies echoed through Katutura Hospital at 1:52, heralding the beginning of a heartwarming series of arrivals.

Just three minutes later, a little princess made her debut at 1:55.

Among the mothers, there is a 17-year-old teen, Josephine Nghimwasha, who gave birth to a baby girl.

At Rhino Park and Lady Pohamba, the anticipation was palpable, but alas, no cries of newborns filled the air during the visit to these facilities.

No premature births were reported at both state hospitals, leaving the day brimming with joy and anticipation for the families and the medical staff.

The Katima Mulilo state hospital welcomed a boy.

A senior midwife at the hospital, Emely Chidolo, says among all admissions, only Ntelamo Simwanza gave birth on Christmas day.

Chidolo added that the majority of the 14 expecting mothers who were admitted on Christmas Eve gave birth the same day to ten babies, that is, nine boys and one girl.
