The |Khomas Regional Council officially kicked off its business today.

The regional council described the year 2023 as a success, saying they were able to improve the living standards of its people in the region by accelerating regional socio-economic development through intersectoral collaboration and community participation.

The Chairperson of the |Khomas Regional Council, Shaalukeni Moonde, says a number of projects were earmarked for implementation in the last quarter of the 2023–2024 financial year.

"The projects include the drilling of seven (7) boreholes, each at the following localities: Hamis, Opdam, Hatsamas, Stink Water, Garib, Audabib, and Versailles. All the drilled sites are fully installed using solar technology. The council will continue to drill and install more boreholes before the end of the 2023–24 financial year."

As part of this water supply project, a contractor was appointed to restore the water supply at Dordabis.

The project included the supply and erection of four additional 10,000-litre water tanks and other accessories at a cost of over N$755,000.
