President Hage Geingob is receiving medical treatment to treat cancerous cells that were revealed following medical examinations he underwent earlier this month.

The Presidency says in a statement that the Head of State went for a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy on January 8, and a follow-up biopsy revealed the presence of cancerous cells.

The statement says that Dr. Geingob will continue to carry out his presidential duties alongside the Cabinet.

The Presidency points out that since assuming office, President Geingob has maintained transparency and accountability, including on matters pertaining to his health.
