28-year-old Mateus Johannes made his second court appearance in two days for the murder of 22-year-old Claudia Kambanza in Hull, in the United Kingdom, last Friday.
Johannes, a Namibian national, appeared before Hull Crown Court, following his Monday appearance before the Hull Magistrate's Court.
A statement from Hull's Humberside police, published on Facebook, says Johannes was arrested on Friday, and a murder investigation has been launched following the death of Kambanza.
The statement says officers were called at around three o'clock in the morning to report that a woman sustained stab wounds.
Kabanza was taken to the hospital to receive treatment, but despite the efforts of medical professionals, she died from her injuries a short while later.
The Hull Daily Mail's online edition reports that Johannes, who was charged with murder and possessing a blade in public, appeared in the secure dock for his latest court appearance.
Prosecutor Stephen Welch gave brief details of the case. Johannes was represented by Clive Stockwell.
The case was adjourned until March 28 for a further hearing, while Johannes was remanded in custody.
