Lucia Bopoto, a resilient cancer patient, emphasised that 30% to 50% of cancers can be avoided through fitness and lifestyle changes.
In spreading this message, she collaborated with Genesis Fitness Namibia and organised an event to commemorate World Cancer Day.
Bopoto highlighted the silence of many suffering alone due to personal beliefs, sharing untold stories of both men and women affected by cancer.
"I think that there's more that can be done and that there are not enough stories being told. There are so many ladies and so many men who are suffering, and they are out there, but they're not telling their stories because of their different beliefs. So I do believe that more stories can be told."
Reflecting on the event, Bopoto shared her satisfaction with the fact that she could attract so many people to her talk and expressed optimism for the future.
"Outcome I think it was good for now. It was good because we managed to fill a class. We hope that next year we will only get better. You think there's enough awareness being raised about cancer."
Looking forward, Bopoto urged everyone to be proactive about their health, emphasising the significance of self-care.
The event was a stepping stone in Bopoto's cancer awareness campaign, and she envisions a continuous journey of increased awareness and support for those impacted by cancer.
