The Kunene Region held a memorial service to honour  the late President, Hage Geingob.

Kunene Governor Marius Sheya at the event said, it is so unreal that Hage Geingob is no more.

Appointed by the late President Hage Geingob as governor of Kunene at just 28 years old, Marius Sheya had a distinct relationship with him.

The news of Geingob's passing is still something he says he is struggling to come to terms with. 

Sheya says Kunene is one of the most difficult regions to lead, yet the late president entrusted him with such huge responsibility, something that he would forever be grateful for. 

Khorixas Mayor Patience !Hoaes described the late president as a unifier who made sure that people's needs were put first. 

Association of Local Authorities Namibia President Dr. Samuel !Oe-Amseb also paid tribute to the late president.

" We salute you, Dr.Hage G. Geingob, who has dedicated his entire life to the service of the people of Namibia. His legacy will continue, and we are motivated by his hard work and love for Namibia and each person. We believe he was one of the best leaders we had for our country."
