One more person has died following an incident where eight people are suspected to have contracted food poisoning at Livayi Village, 155 kilometres east of Rundu.
This brings the number of dead from the incident to three.
Five more remain hospitalised at the Rundu Intermediate Hospital, one in critical condition.
The incident happened on Monday.
According to family members who spoke to nbc News on Tuesday, a 13-year-old boy prepared lunch with a combination of porridge and mutete, which the children consumed.
Another meal consisting of porridge and soup was prepared by an older relative for supper, which the minors also consumed.
On Monday evening, one of the minors, a seven-year-old girl, started vomiting.
The situation deteriorated, and she died at home.
Soon after, another one-year-old minor started showing similar symptoms.
They then called in police from Ndiyona, who arrived with a healthcare worker.
According to the police report, the medical officer started giving first aid to stabilise their condition before taking them to Nyangana Hospital, where they were later transferred to Rundu Intermediate Hospital.
The youngest victim, a one-year-old girl, died at the Rundu hospital.
The third death was recorded this morning (Friday).
A team from Nampol and the Ministry of Health collected samples of the food source for testing. Investigations into the matter continue.
