The !Nami#Nus Constituency Councillor Susan Ndjaleka has commended the government for allocating N$141 million in the 2024/25 national budget for bulk services and infrastructure development to Luderitz and Aus.
Ndjaleka remarked on this at the recent launch of the annual Luderitz Crayfish Festival.
!Nami#nus Councillor says the budget allocation is driven by the anticipation of the high influx of people triggered by the development of green hydrogen as well as the oil and gas industry at Luderitz.
"We need to commend our government for its huge commitment. They have also allocated N$88 million to Luderitz Waterfront Development, so in total, the government's support for this constituency is N$219 million this financial year.
Ndjaleka advised the business fraternity to invest in education and youth empowerment to complement the government's socio-economic development efforts.
"Dear distinguish quest, if we tend to promote socio-economic development and social corporate responsibility in the region by investing, we should invest more in youth and education, so that we can promote and encourage the further dreams of our youth, so that we become educationally advanced."
