Two accidents were reported in the Otjozondjupa Region on Thursday night and early this morning, resulting in the death of one person.

Inspector Maureen Mbeha alleged that in the first accident, the driver of a white Corolla, who was travelling from Outjo towards Otjiwarongo, attempted to overtake a stationary truck that was on the road and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Both drivers and passengers escaped with minor injuries, but the vehicles were extensively damaged.

In the other incident, the driver of a delivery van travelling from Walvis Bay to Windhoek transporting bags of rice overturned the van 15 km from Okahandja and died at the scene.

The deceased driver has been identified as Natanga Kalongola, a male aged 44 who was travelling alone.

The body was transported to the Okahandja State mortuary.

A case of capable homicide has been registered, and police investigations into the matter continue.
