The Commissioners of the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) and the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) have acknowledged that vital components of the operationalization of the Mamuno/Trans-Kalahari One-Stop Border Post might not be in place by May 1, which is the set implementation date.

While touring the project on Friday, Commissioner Sam Shivute and Commissioner General Jeanette Makgolo stressed the need to finalise pending activities to ensure the project is realised. 

The pair thus emphasised the need to have a consolidated tracking system of all activities with revised timelines in preparation for updating their respective principals.

They are, however, satisfied with the progress made in the operationalization of the project.

As part of ensuring harmonised and synchronised border operations between Namibia and Botswana, alterations are being made to the existing structures, and construction on both sides is at an advanced stage.

The project is a strategic initiative aimed at streamlining border operations between Namibia and Botswana.

It essentially consolidates border clearance activities, such as customs, immigration, and other regulatory checks, into a single location.
