The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, has called on the leaders of the Gobabis Municipality to promote unity amongst themselves in order to address much-needed development in the town.
Uutoni made the remark after lengthy discussions with local authority leaders, staff members, and the community of Gobabis.
This comes after reports of tension among Gobabis Municipality councillors.
Minister Uutoni stated that it was high time that the local authority leadership put their differences aside and focus on developing the town, which he says is strategically located as an entrance and exit point to the Trans Kalahari-Mamuno Border Post.
Uutoni added that another area that the local authority councillors need to work on is having frequent public engagements to address service delivery.
Furthermore, the minister says if all that has been discussed is not put into place, it might force him to take drastic measures to save the institution.
