A South African company, Oceana Group, has apologised over claims that the suspended Managing Director of its Namibian subsidiary, Erongo Marine Enterprises, had resigned.
In a statement, the company said Dr. Martha Uumati's employment was terminated by mutual agreement.
The suspended MD's contract came to an end on Monday.
Erongo Marine Enterprises, which is owned by Oceana Group, was pursuing disciplinary action against Dr. Uumati.
She was dismissed for gross subordination and improper behaviour as a leader of the enterprise.
The enterprise is in a joint venture with three Namibian fishing rights holding companies.
Following the mutual agreement to part ways, the company has dropped all the charges against her.
Her lawyer, Richard Metcalfe, described her as a leader who puts employees and Namibia before her own interests.
Metcalfe says the former MD, who has earned degrees from leading universities, is not afraid to voice her opinion on corporate governance and ethical business conduct.
He stressed that young people of her calibre are what Namibia needs so that natural resources benefit all.
Dr. Uumati recently told nbc News that she does not own fishing rights or quotas because that was a conscious decision she made to avoid conflicts of interest.
Dr. Uumati says that although she has split from Erongo Marine Enterprises, she is still available to any quota holders to render advice and assistance.
