President Nangolo Mbumba has lauded the Ohamba yauKwanyama Martha Nelumbu for her stellar leadership in her area of jurisdiction.

Mbumba made these remarks during his visit to the Omhedi palace, where he paid a courtesy call to the monarch.

The two held a closed-door meeting with their entourages before the president briefed the media on the purpose of his visit.

President Mbumba stated that Nelumbu's leadership is exemplary and selfless, and that during her reign she continued to be a servant of the people, and a calm traditional leader.

"She is indeed a leader to all, both young and old. I am proud of the work she does for her people to have access to clean drinking water, food security, and peace. Even those of us who come here troubled—we leave her palace full of peace. I also want to congratulate NUST management for bestowing her with an honorary doctorate; she really does deserve it because of her hands-on leadership."

Dr. Mbumba reiterated the importance of giving traditional authorities the respect they deserve, saying they are the anchors of communities and champions of cultural norms and values.

The Ohamba yauKwanyama thanked the president for his visit and words of wisdom.

"I am happy with what transpired here today with the president's visit to the palace. We had fruitful engagements, and he also congratulated me for my work and for my recent conferment of a doctorate."

Amongst her outstanding accomplishments, the president says, are that the palace houses a number of orphaned children and the allocation of land for agricultural purposes, among others.
