Young people are concerned that they are excluded from the political landscape.
This is one of the reasons Political Analyst Ndumba Kamwanyah said youth are less involved in electoral processes.
Dr. Kamwanyah says with the youth being the largest population, more needs to be done to include them in decision-making and leadership structures.
"The main issue is the political representation that young people seek to be included in decision-making processes as well as leadership structures at a party level but also at the government level, but mostly particular in the aspect of the social impact of social economic challenges that young people are faced with their situation to improve touchably."
Dr. Kamwanyah urged young people to register, as abstaining from voting also allows other people to make decisions for them.
The local political analyst says that to make sure that young people's voices are heard, there is a need to establish policies that address issues affecting them.
"The political parties or government to ensure that they develop policies, the youth-driven policies that are speaking to the issues affecting young people, and to come up with engagement strategies to communicate issues affecting young people."
In addition, he says there is a need to educate young people on the importance of voting and what it means for their future.
