The Second Chance Foundation launched its Crime Prevention Campaign in Oshakati, Oshana Region.
The campaign aims to reintegrate ex-convicts and raise awareness, advocate, and educate the public, particularly the youth, about crime prevention.
The founder of the foundation, Penny Jonas, says when inmates are released from correctional facilities, they struggle to get jobs and have mental health issues because most of them are neglected by friends and relatives.
This prompted the formation of the foundation to support and prevent reoffending among offenders.
A former offender, Cross Cavalry, says crime does not pay and pleads with fellow youth to be vigilant and refrain from involving themselves in illegal activities that can destroy their lives and future.
Those who witnessed the launch say this was an inspiration, and the initiative taken by the Second Chance Foundation cannot be taken lightly.
The foundation is a non-profit organisation but faces challenges in taking the campaign to the rest of the regions.
Therefore, they are pleading for support of any kind from other stakeholders to intensify the campaign.
