The search for 24-year-old student Matheus Sheehama, who has been missing for eight days, is ongoing at Walvis Bay.

Sheehamas' family members, the community, and Erongo Police joined forces on Saturday to search for the missing engineering student.

Out of desperation, the group first went to Opaal Street in the Tutaleni location to plead with the residents who might have information to speak out.

This is the area where Sheehama attended a braai and was allegedly assaulted at the girlfriend's house and later in the street by a group of five men.

It is the same space where Sheehama was allegedly last seen and went missing without a trace.

The Tutaleni Station Commander Inspector Hilma Uugwanga, told the group that the detectives are having sleepless nights trying to crack the case.

"Our biggest desire is to at least find this person alive if possible. That is our greatest desire. So let's work together, bring forth the information, and don't undermine any information. If you want to give information anonymously and don't want to be identified, you are welcome. But my humble request is, Please let us not interfere in the investigation if possible, and my second request is, let's not take the law into our own hands."

Five people have been arrested in connection with the case.

The police say the search will continue, and those with information can contact Detective Deputy Commissioner Erastus Ikuyu at 081 246 4757 or the Kuisebmond station at 064 21 90 70.
