|Khomas Governor, Laura McLeod-Katjirua, has delivered her 9th State of the Region Address, in which she highlighted significant accomplishments and strategic plans designed to enhance lives and deliver efficient and effective services to |Khomas residents.
McLeod-Katjirua's address covered numerous sectors, including education, ICT, agriculture, roads, housing, unemployment, and water and sanitation.
Water and proper sanitation are considered crucial for the health and well-being of communities.
The Governor highlighted the successful implementation of rural sanitation programmes, worth N$1.2 million, at Stinkwater and Hatsamas.
The council also constructed 103 toilets.
"As part of the pilot programme to improve sanitation for the rural communities, a hybrid model of environmental-free dry pit latrines and wet (flushing) toilets for the communities that have access to running water was implemented. Five septic tanks were constructed with the participation of beneficiaries, and existing VIP (ventilated improved pit) toilets were connected at a cost of N$284,000."
Governor McLeod-Katjirua reaffirmed the region's commitment to ongoing improvement and sustainable development.
