Namibia Primary School in Central Katutura inaugurated its new dining hall, equipped with a fully furnished kitchen, thanks to N$5 million in funding from the |Khomas Regional Council.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor McLeod-Katjirua emphasised the importance of such facilities in enhancing the overall learning environment.
"We do not do it because we have enough with our inadequate resources to provide, and due to the gaps there, it is in our constituency where our line ministry cannot do everything."
The dining hall, which includes a kitchen fully equipped with modern cooking utensils, aims to provide students with nutritious meals, thereby supporting their health and academic performance.
The Education Ministry's Executive Director, Sanet Steenkamp, expressed her gratitude.
"A child who eats, a child who is happy, and a child who is healthy is a child who can play and is a child who can learn, and a child who can read is a child who can learn; are you with me? So all of us can inculcate that, which means you must work every single day to read certain numbers, certain pages, and certain chapters until we finish a book."
As the school community looks forward to utilising the new facility, the school's principal, Julius Nauiseb, and head girl and head boy expressed their gratitude.
"We really needed this; our learners would sit outside in the cold weather without any protection from the harsh weather, and your generosity will go a long way in the history of our school."
