Development challenges such as a lack of adequate schools, water infrastructure, roads, and housing, as well as the impact of drought, were highlighted as major concerns that need attention in the Kunene Region.

The concerns were raised during a Khorixas community meeting between President Nangolo Mbumba and different traditional authorities and political and community leaders.

Some leaders and community members expressed themselves on issues affecting them.

President Mbumba, in response, promised that a report of the meeting would be compiled for Cabinet discussions and action.

"I think we should organise ourselves properly. We should communicate that housing is a major thing, communication is a major thing, roads are major things and water—all those issues are major things. I am not going to answer all the questions because answering in words is not a solution. We will have a summary of this meeting. We will have a report for this meeting. We will share in Cabinet what has been discussed. Issues of development are of concern to this administration."

Dr. Mbumba also called on Cabinet ministers to cultivate a habit of hosting town hall meetings so they stay abreast of issues facing communities.

He also thanked the residents who have registered as eligible voters, saying it's crucial for everyone to exercise this right for good governance.
