The leader of the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority has called on traditional leaders to become catalysts in promoting cultural activities to restore traditional norms and preserve cultures.

Ombara Eben Tjozohongo II Nguvauva made this remark at the annual Otjunda Commemoration Day in Okorukambe Constituency.

Ombara Nguvauva highlighted the significance of places such as Otjunda in the history of the Ovambanderu communities. This is where some gallant heroes and heroines, under the stewardship of the late Hijakungairi Nguvauva, died in battles against the German troops in 1849.

Ombara  Nguvauva added that it is important for traditional leaders to spearhead cultural activities within their jurisdiction and involve more young people to prevent societal extinction. While maintaining their cultures, they should also consider economic emancipation and education.

Ombara Eben Tjozohongo from the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority stressed, "We need to be united, share great ideas, and promote unity in our communities. If we can follow this path, we will succeed in promoting our cultural norms."

The constituency councillor of Epukiro, Packy Pakarae, implored young people to use technology to document historical stories for future generations.

Ombara Tjinaani Maharero also proposed that schools address issues related to genocide.
