Acting Chairperson of the preparatory committee for the Ongwediva Anual Trade Fair (OATF), Damian Egumbo, said that when the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair started in 2000, the idea was to expose the business community, but the trade fair has grown, and it is no longer local or regional but international.

Speaking to nbc News, Egumbo said they have created a platform to invite all exhibitors from all walks of life and from various sectors to be able to showcase and promote their products, and that platform has grown.

He emphasised the aims and goals of OATF 2024 have been underwritten by the theme “Bridging Tradition and Innovation," and they are putting emphasis on innovation and digital transformation.

Additionally, the trade fair contributes to the growth of the local economy through business tourists in terms of accommodation, which is not only in Ongwediva but the neighbouring towns as well; thereby, the hospitality industry benefits as well as service stations, local traders, and knowledge, among others.

He also highlighted the long-term visions of OATF, which are driven by the demands in the market. The OATF organising committee wants to see the trade fair grow as a platform where they can launch vibrant projects, changing the lives of people and creating much-needed opportunities for entrepreneurs, as well as employment opportunities.
