The Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court has struck off the court roll a murder case in which two police officers were implicated in the death of Elleste Plaatjies.

The officers attached to the Police's Special Reserve Force, Bernard Mulisa and Wilbard Neshuku, were charged with murder and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Plaatjies succumbed to injuries after he was allegedly beaten by the suspects.

Earlier, the police officers testified that Plaatjies and two others were being searched when a fellow officer spotted the deceased putting something in his mouth.

Upon close inspection, it was found that Plaatjies was chewing a substance that smelled like cannabis.

Court records show Magistrate Unchen Konjore removed the latter charges against the suspects off the roll due to an incomplete police investigation.

She noted that the state will suffer no jurisdiction if the accused are re-summoned upon completion of the investigation.

The court also ordered that bail of N$3,000 be refunded to both suspects.
