Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia is the ideal location for new emerging industries.

Dr. Nandi Ndaitwah delivered the keynote address at the official opening of the Global African Hydrogen Summit in Windhoek, Namibia.

The summit attracted about a thousand global leaders and industry players.

Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah said Namibia has what it takes for hydrogen to flourish, and these include ample space, a progressive immigration system, and a young and developing workforce.

"We have some of the best wind and solar resources in the region, close to our well-developed port and rail infrastructure, and we have plans to expand that infrastructure to facilitate even broader trade in low carbon goods between our regional neighbours and our global customers. Lastly, we have the space, a progressive immigration system, and a young and developing workforce, which makes Namibia an ideal location to house some of these new and emerging industries. In a nutshell, Namibia is open for business that will make a meaningful impact on our development as it benefits the investor. Therefore, you are all welcome to explore all the possibilities."

The summit will help unlock the full potential of the hydrogen opportunity in Africa and harness its projected impact on achieving a sustainable and equitable energy transition globally.

Job creation, capital investment, infrastructure development, and collaborations in green hydrogen dominate conversations at the summit.

The two-day summit is held under the theme "From ambition to action, fuelling Africa's green industrial revolution."
