President Nangolo Mbumba says Namibia wants to work closely with China in the development of energy, including green hydrogen, solar, hydro, wind, and nuclear energy.

President Mbumba held a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, at the Great Hall of the People.

Dr. Mbumba outlined Namibia's goal to set up infrastructure, including a desalination plant and nuclear infrastructure.

The nuclear infrastructure, he says, is meant to add value to uranium for the peaceful development of nuclear energy and other energy sources.

The Namibian leader expressed satisfaction at the discussions that took place at the FOCAC summit, where President Xi announced new partnership actions to deepen trade.

China is determined to fully implement the outcomes of the FOCAC summit.

President Xi says working alongside Namibia and other African countries is thus key.

Meanwhile, President Mbumba reiterated Namibia's gratitude to President Xi for his support following the death of Dr. Hage Geingob in February this year.

The Chinese government had sent a high-level delegation led by Jiang Zuojun, Vice Chairperson of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, for the state funeral of the late Geingob.
