The High Court has reinstated the suspended Swapo Party representatives of the ||Kharas Regional Council.
Councillors Lazarus Nangolo, Taimi Amakali, and Suzan Ndjaleka sought legal recourse after the ||Kharas Regional Council suspended their salaries at the end of July based on a council resolution that terminated their council membership for allegedly failing to attend three consecutive meetings.
In a judgement delivered today, the court interdicted the council and its chairperson, Joseph Isaacks, listed as respondents one and two, from implementing a 25 January 2024 council resolution to terminate the councillors' council membership and to stop their salaries.
The court also ordered that respondents one and two jointly and severally pay the legal cost of the councillors and Swapo Party.
