The Central Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (CENORED) has issued a last-minute warning to households within their area of operations of the looming deadline of the cut-off dates of households upgrading their prepaid electricity meters with a token identifier.
54,000 prepaid meters are registered within the regions of Otjozondjupa, Kunene, Omaheke, and Oshikoto regions. However, 4,000 meters are still to be updated.
These households, according to CENORED Public Relations Officer Chali Matengu, are facing the threat of being cut off by September 15 if owners do not reach out to get their meters updated.
The Token Identifier project kicked off in November 2023.
