The leader of a NUDO faction, Barry Rukoro, unveiled his priorities as Utjiua Muinjangue, the incumbent president, firmly asserts her position.

Rukoro's election followed the appointment of an interim committee on August 18th by the traditional chiefs, Kainamatui, and branch coordinators.

"They accomplished this successfully, and I am honoured to lead the party as its new president. The Secretary General will provide a full list of the new leadership, including the national executive committee and national council."

The former sports administrator pointed out some of the priority areas. "One of the things that will be very dear to my heart during the Presidency of NUDO is the professionalisation of sports, which is very important for me."

NUDO president, Utjiua Muinjangue, stressed the party only has one leader. "I just want to assure the members of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) that the leadership of NUDO is still under Muinjangue. It is also very clear that a party is an institution governed by its constitution. There are specific mandates as to how a congress should be called or convened; a congress cannot be convened by any person who is not even on the structure party for what, and then you call it a congress."

Muinjangue also noted that there is a legal dispute involving the group.

"There is a legal battle against these people. A letter was already issued by our lawyers for them to stop all this they are continuing, and it's in the hands of our lawyer. I want to assure the members of NUDO that there is no new leader and people should remain calm, we should focus on the upcoming elections, and we should not allow any forces to derail us."
