The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has applauded the Mashi Traditional Authority's commitment to promoting conservation, sustainable tourism development, and a harmonious coexistence with nature.

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism, Heather Sibungo, attended the Tulikonge Cultural Festival, where she applauded Mfumu Joseph Tembwe Mayuni's leadership and fostering unity among communities.

"Despite challenges in dealing with certain anti-progressive individuals, the Mashi Traditional Authority has made significant strides in promoting sustainable practices that benefit both our communities and the environment through a very consultative and collaborative process both locally and on the international stage."

Simbugo said the ministry has shared the same vision of ensuring equitable sharing of natural resources among all members of society while preserving and respecting traditional knowledge systems.

"I urge you all to make use of every opportunity that you get to engage in constructive dialogue, Let us think about how we can bring in enterprise development to our gatherings of this nature. What are the opportunities that we can explore to attract more visitors, which can save money on our local economy?"

She further highlighted the need to discuss issues related to conservation efforts in the region and for traditional authorities to work together in developing strategies that align with both conservation goals and community needs.
