The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has officially released the Final Voters' Register ahead of the highly anticipated national elections set for November 2024.
The announcement was made on Monday at the ECN Head Office in Windhoek.
According to the ECN, 1,449,569 voters have been registered, representing 90% of the country's eligible voting population.
This figure includes voters registered within Namibia and at diplomatic missions abroad.
The release of the final voters' roll follows the successful conclusion of the display and objection period for the Provisional Voters' Register.
No objection was registered.
ECN Chairperson, Dr. Elsie Nghikembua, emphasised that this comprehensive list of eligible voters is essential to ensuring the integrity and fairness of the upcoming elections.
"Let us remember that the right to vote is a fundamental right that must be upheld to and protected to ensure democracy."
However, the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) were notably absent from the list of political parties that received the voters' roll and the electoral code of conduct during the event.
This comes after a recent High Court ruling overturned the ECN's decision to deregister the NEFF for failing to submit its audited financial statements, as required by electoral law.
NEFF's second-in-command, Kalimbo Iipumbu, has since confirmed that the party has received an invitation for a meeting with the ECN later on Monday and is anticipating constructive engagement with the commission.
The ECN reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and inclusive election process, noting that all parties will be held to the same standards to ensure fair participation in the November elections.
