The Omaheke Regional Council (ORC) has supported the motion aimed at upgrading the Trans Kalahari Border Post from a settlement to a fully-fledged town council.

This will help in the provision of service delivery.

The Chairperson of the Omaheke Regional Council and also the councillor of the Kalahari  constituency, Ignatius Kariseb, stressed that given the potential and strategic location of the border post, it requires prompt development action.

Kariseb added that once the growth point is elevated, this will allow the betterment of service provisions to residents, including proper health facilities, education, and accommodation.

This will also create job opportunities for the residents.

Aminuis Constituency Councillor Peter Kazongominja agrees that communities that reside at the border post have been deprived of much-needed development.

He also requested the upgrading of Drimiopsis and Tsjaka growth points to formal settlements.
