President Nangolo Mbumba inaugurated the Daures Green Hydrogen Agriculture Facility in the Erongo Region.

The hydrogen project is anticipated to become the largest food producer in the country.

The project will set up a one-hectare greenhouse facility that will produce 500 to 600 tonnes of agricultural produce throughout the year.

President Nangolo Mbumba's visit comes as part of his broader commitment to advancing Namibia's role in the global green hydrogen sector, which is seen as crucial for economic reconstruction and sustainable development. 

The Daures Green Hydrogen Village is a focal point for Namibia's hydrogen projects, which include plans for producing green direct reduced iron. 

The initiative will utilise a combination of solar and wind energy. 

The facility will not only focus on hydrogen production but also include a campsite, an eco-lodge, and a greenhouse for horticultural production. 

The Daures Green Hydrogen Village is based in the Daures constituency, which has a population of 11,000 inhabitants.

The greenhouse is climate-controlled to ensure that agricultural products will be grown all year to ensure food security.

There are already engagements made with various distributors to make sure that they have a market once harvest time arrives.
