The Presidency has reminded the public that November 27th is a public holiday.
This announcement comes in response to inquiries from the public regarding whether voting day is a public holiday.
"In accordance with the powers vested in the President by Section 1(3) of the Public Holidays Act, 1990 (Act No. 26 of 1990), H.E. President Nangolo Mbumba has declared Wednesday, November 27, 2024, as a public holiday. This declaration has been made to facilitate the general election for the election of the President and members of the National Assembly, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2014 (Act No. 5 of 2014)," the statement reads.
President Mbumba urged all eligible voters to take this opportunity to fulfill their democratic duty by turning out in large numbers and exercising their constitutional right to vote.
