Swapo Party Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, says the nation must not be misinformed that there is no development taking place in the Otjozondjupa Region.

Nandi-Ndaitwah made this cautionary statement during the party's star rally at Otjiwarongo when she highlighted the successes in the health sector in the region, which boasts 72 health facilities, including five hospitals.

The region also has improved in water infrastructure, with 996 water points across the region.

"Besides so many challenges that we have been facing, including the world economic recession, the political dynamics, the global disasters, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the drought, and all these factors, they lead to unemployment and poverty. However, our government has achieved a lot in many sectors. Therefore, whoever tried to mislead you, to say our government has not done anything since independence, show them what is happening in your specific region, for example here in Otjozondjupa."

In agriculture, programmes such as dryland crop production, seed improvement, and horticulture value chain development schemes have been implemented.

"We are not saying everything is done. We are the first to admit, as a party, that besides the achievements we have made, we still have a lot to do, particularly when it comes to high unemployment, which leads to poverty, and that is why in our election manifesto we are committing ourselves to address the issue of unemployment."

A dairy value chain development scheme has been approved for piloting in the region, with the aim to fight malnutrition and create jobs. Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah said a renewed mandate for the party will enable the government to continue with its development and economic plans
