A Congress of Democrats (CoD) member who accompanied a delegation of political parties and observers to South Africa to observe the printing of the election ballot papers has died at a Johannesburg hospital.
The ECN announced that Johannes Matroos died on Saturday.
While expressing sorrow at the passing of Matroos, the ECN wrote, "Mr. Matroos was found unresponsive in his hotel room on the morning of October 30, 2024, after failing to show up for scheduled transport to the airport. Emergency responders were called, and he was transported to MediClinic Morningside in Sandton. Despite efforts to stabilise him, Mr. Matroos's condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to intensive care, where he passed away on November 2, 2024."
