20 political parties have signed the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Political Organisations in Windhoek today.

The Congress of Democrats is the only party that did not sign, and it will be granted another opportunity to sign the code of conduct as they are participants in the upcoming elections.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), Dr. Elsie Nghikembua, said the code is important to the country’s election processes as it will ensure parties will uphold free, fair, and transparent elections while campaigning.

She further added that it will also ensure transparent elections while promoting a climate of tolerance and peaceful political activities.

She called on the parties to always uphold and respect this code of conduct at all times.
