President Nangolo Mbumba says no other party captures the essence of Namibian society like the Swapo Party and hence called on the electorate to give his party and its presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, another five years to govern.
Mbumba said the ruling party, which has governed the country since independence, will continue to deliver on the promise of its election manifesto and its National Development Programmes.
In his speech during a Swapo rally at the Olukonda village in the Oshikoto Region, the President discouraged voters from supporting other parties, which he said have no proven leadership records that have benefitted Namibia and its people both pre- and post-independence.
The President said Swapo's developmental agenda is clearly outlined in the party's manifesto and does not contain any empty promises.
"Our achievements speak for themselves. Those who say that Swapo has achieved nothing are not telling the truth. The acts are there for everyone to see and judge for themselves. Guided by sound and comprehensive policies such as Vision 2030, the national development plans, and the Harambee Prosperity Plan, the party has pursued a strategy for sustainable development and nation-building."
He further appealed to all eligible voters not to make what he terms a mistake to vote for parties and leaders who are promising heaven and earth but have no track record of delivering anything to the communities.
He says the party and its presidential candidate have the ability and experience to move the country towards economic emancipation through set policies aimed at addressing the high unemployment rate, infrastructure development, and job creation, among others.
"Let us remind the naysayers that Swapo is going nowhere, Swapo is here to stay, and Swapo will remain as the leading party in the Republic of Namibia for years, decades, and centuries to come. Vote for comrade Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the next president. She is the most prepared, capable, and tested leader to continue the Swapo party legacy."
