President Nangolo Mbumba has reminded officers that they are required to prove that the time they put into completing their courses was not in vain.
Dr. Mbumba, as Commander in Chief, conferred pass symbols on 30 senior officers who graduated from a Senior Command and Staff Course.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Namibia Command and Staff College at Okahandja.
"The development of the military capacity of our officers is crucial to improve operational efficiency and eventually the attainment of our high-level statements such as the Harambee Prosperity Plans, National Development Plans, and Vision 2030. This will in turn help Namibia to fulfil her international obligations whenever required. Therefore, you are expected to be the agents of change upon assumption of your duties. Our officers are eagerly awaiting for you to go and apply new concepts and innovations through the newly acquired skills and knowledge."
The Senior Command and Staff Course commenced in January with senior officers inclusive of those from NDF, NamPol, Namibia Correctional Services (NCS), and Namibia Central Intelligence Services (NCIS).
They were joined by senior-ranking officers from Zambia and Kenya, a collaboration that the President says is commendable in the exchange of ideas and military doctrines.
The officers were trained in a variety of military exercises, strategic leadership, international security, joint warfare planning, and multi-national capabilities, among others.
"I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for the support rendered by various stakeholders who supported the course as guest presenters and lecturers, notably the office of the United Nations Representative, African Union Headquarters, the SADC Combined Joint African Exercise hosted by the Republic of South Africa with Namibia's first time full participation, local academic institutions, and various Offices/Ministry/Agencies that contributed immensely to ensuring that the training enhanced the knowledge, skills, and attitude of our officers."
The structured theory learning of the course was bridged with practical sessions in the field, including various study tours.
The Senior Command and Staff Course initially commenced with 51 officers; however, only 30 managed to complete it.
