The announcement of election results at the Karasburg Combined School Collation Centre sparked controversy when Nesimus Mupiya of the Independent Patriots for Change and Norbert Jossob of the Landless People's Movement declined to sign off on the results.
The constituency recorded 5.591 votes in the Presidential and 5,578 votes in the National Assembly election.
ECN's Returning Officer of Karasburg East constituency, Wilhelm Kahupi, announced the results after the collation, but IPC and LPM refused to sign them off.
Landless People Movement's party agent Norbert Jossob questioned Kahupi about the late arrival of four ballot boxes, asking where they had been and why they were not stored with the other boxes.
Kahupi explained that steps were conducted fairly and in accordance with established guidelines.
He also added that if the two are not happy with the results, they can by law ask for a recount.
The results were gathered from seven fixed polling stations in the constituency, including Grunau, Warmbad, Komsberg, Westerkim, Lordsville, Lutheran Church Hall, Karasburg Town Hall, and mobile stations serving the area.
All the verified, counted, and sealed boxes were transported by police officers to the Karasburg Police Station.
