A significant number of people cast their votes this morning at Okandjengedhi Community Hall and Onawa Kindergarten polling stations in the Oshana Region.
Long queues were observed at both polling stations this morning, with the same seen at the Ehenye open space polling station in Oshakati East, where a group of especially young people were transported to that polling station to vote.
"We had a good number in the morning, but the number has significantly decreased. What I have seen when I came here at Ehenye open space is that many people who are dropped here are from outside the constituency to come and vote. We have even a group that came from Rundu. It could be that as well, but it could be due to different factors as to why they couldn't vote in the constituency one could not tell."
ECN's Electoral Officer for Oshana, Amon-Oiva Haimbangu, added that voting is slow in Okatjali constituency and dropped significantly during the day.
At about 10:00 this morning, only 8 people voted in all seven constituencies in Okatjali.
Yesterday, close to 70 people had cast their votes at all seven polling stations in Okatjali by 17:00.
"Especially in our centres in town, we anticipate long, long queues because people always like last-minute things. Yesterday, when we opened, we had large queues, and during the day people did not come because they knew that even on Saturday there was still a chance for them to vote. That is why we still have people coming, but as time goes on, we expect long queues."
