Tses Village Council has invested over N$5 million over the last two financial years in town planning and infrastructure upgrades.
Of the N$5 million, N$3 million from the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development went towards the town planning process, while two million nine hundred thousand dollars were invested in the construction of ablution facilities.
With funding from the Road Administration Fund, the upgrading of a gravel road to interlock standard at a cost of N$1 million is nearing completion.
The Chief Executive Officer of Tses Village Council, Fritz Christian, noted that the council is working towards improving its service delivery and formalisation of informal settlements.
According to Christian, the council, as part of its mission to eradicate the bucket toilet system, constructed toilets in Tses proper, Soutputz, Jamaica, and Growwerant informal settlements.
The Chief Executive Officer revealed that the intention with the town planning process is to formalise Soutputz and extensions 1 and 2 to restore ownership of properties in informal settlements, adding that ownership currently rests with the council.
The proclamation process also involves the formalisation of erven in Soutputz, located west of the national B1 blacktop.
Christian concluded that the council sourced funding from the Road Fund Administration for road works and is currently completing a 1-kilometre stretch with interlocking.
