China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese CPC Central Committee arrived in Windhoek last night. 

Minister Wang Yi is in Namibia for a three-day visit where he is expected to meet with President-Elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

He will then proceed to Swakopmund to have official talks with President Nangolo Mbumba. 

Speaking through an interpreter, Wang said he is looking forward to meeting with the President and the President-Elect to discuss views on how to grow relations between the two countries.

He also commended Namibia’s ambassador to China, Elia Kaiyamo, for the efforts he has been making over the years to grow relations between the two countries. 

Wang was welcomed by the Acting Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Christine ||Hoëbes, its Deputy Minister Jennely Matundu, Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Zhao Weiping, Ambassador Kaiyamo, and the Executive Director of MIRCO, Ambassador Penda Naanda, at the Hosea Kutako International Airport.
