28 people have died so far due to the malaria outbreak in the northern regions of the country.

During a press conference, the Ministry of Health and Social Services stated that the Ohangwena region is the epicenter of the outbreak, with more than 50 percent of reported cases.

Eenhana has recorded the highest number of cases, followed by Okongo.

The ministry has intensified its efforts by distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets to targeted communities, conducting indoor residual spraying, and providing a toll-free number (0800 100 100) for any malaria-related inquiries.

The public, especially those in affected areas, is urged to take extra precautionary measures and seek early treatment at health facilities.

Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle or joint pain, chills, sweating, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting.
