Plans are underway to establish a Dr. Hage G. Geingob Presidential Centre in honour of his legacy.

Geingob's widow and former First Lady, Monica Geingos, says the late Namibian leader was working on the process, including the centre's board members and its focus areas.

The mantle is now upon the family and those the late Geingob identified, including Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, to finalise the set-up of the centre.

The envisaged Dr. Hage G. Geingob Presidential Centre has so far received a boost from the organisers of the Dr. Hage Geingob Cup.

Businessman Amos Shiyuka handed over the proceeds of N$150,000 from the final edition of the sporting event, held last year.

Shiyuka submitted that the late Geingob's instructions were clear, and the proceeds benefitted the less privileged since the inception of the soccer tournament in 2014.

Previous beneficiaries of the Dr. Hage G. Geingob Cup proceeds are orphanages and old age homes as well as other social causes countrywide.
