Residents of Noordoewer and Grunau in the ||Kharas Region have expressed deep sorrow over the death of Namibia’s Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma.
Reflecting on his passing, residents acknowledged Nujoma’s pivotal role in the country’s liberation.
“When we heard of his death, our hopes fell. For the youth and everyone here in Noordoewer, it felt like our mission had collapsed. He gave us the strength to stand up and the hope to achieve something better in life. He created opportunities for many to reach their goals,” one resident shared.
Another added, “I was shocked when I heard he had died. I looked up to him. Some may criticise him, but to many of us, he was a good person who did great things.”
“His death has deeply affected us. Anyone in politics would recognise him as a true freedom fighter. From a young age, he stood firmly against oppression and fought tirelessly. Regardless of personal opinions, his contributions are undeniable, and his name will remain etched in political history,” a resident remarked.
Young people also highlighted Nujoma’s advocacy for education.
“Our founding father was a strong advocate for education. The youth must rise and pursue education,” one young resident said.
“He was a great man who always encouraged young people to stand up for their rights,” another added.
Residents agreed that Nujoma’s legacy will forever be engraved in Namibia’s history.
