The presidency has urged Namibians to join in large numbers to bid a final farewell to the Founding President Sam Nujoma.

Dr. Nujoma will be buried on March 1st at the Heroes Acre, on the outskirts of Windhoek.

Presidential Spokesperson Dr. Alfredo Hengari said President Nangolo Mbumba declared the day a public holiday for Namibians to give due recognition to a national hero and a leader who led them to independence and served them with conviction, determination, and humility.

He said the date has been gazetted as a public holiday for the burial service only.

The programme for the state memorial and burial services will be announced in due course.
