Two Namwater employees died on the spot after they were reportedly electrocuted at Nankudu Village in the Kavango West Region on Thursday.

Police Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga confirmed the incident, saying it occurred around 15:00 at the Nankudu Riverbank when the two were trying to fix a machine that pumped water from the river to the community.

The deceased, both Namibian males, were identified as Shilemba Paulus Matheus, a resident of Nankudu village, and Martin Lirumbu Maseke, a resident of Kahenge village.

Their remains were transported to Nkurenkuru police mortuary pending autopsy.

In a separate incident of suspected electrocution on Wednesday, a 40-year-old female teacher succumbed to her injuries after reportedly being electrocuted while taking a bath at Siruwo Guesthouse, situated about 25km from Nkurenkuru, where she was attending an education workshop.
