
President Nangolo Mbumba has expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from Namibians to accord a final send-off to Founding President Sam Nujoma, who was buried on Saturday.
The Head of State made these remarks during a courtesy meeting at State House with Namibia's former ambassador to Russia, Marten Kapewasha; his wife, Esther Kapewasha; and Ombudsman Basilius Dyakugha.
Dr. Mbumba said careful consideration of logistics, including the Air Force's Shaanxi Y-9E military aircraft, enabled Nujoma's remains to be transported to regions where people could bid a final farewell to the late statesman.
The Shaanxi Y-9E military aircraft was acquired in December 2024 and commissioned by the President.
He said the response received countrywide was encouraging and a demonstration of unity even during periods.
