Nearly 400 fishermen will benefit from a newly signed agreement between Blue Chromis Fishing (Pty) Ltd and the Mining, Metal, Maritime, and Construction Union (MMMC), which aims to improve working conditions and strengthen labor relations.

This agreement empowers workers to negotiate important aspects of their employment, such as working conditions, representation in disciplinary hearings, and the establishment of workplace policies, including health and safety protocols. These provisions are anticipated to create a more balanced and productive work environment, benefiting both employees and employers.

Joseph ||Garoëb, General Secretary of the MMMC, emphasized the union's commitment to protecting workers' rights while acknowledging the essential role employers play in fostering a healthy economy. Since its registration in 2015, the MMMC has focused on ensuring fair treatment for workers and promoting understanding and cooperation between both parties.
