The ||Kharas Regional Council and Hyphen have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for the upskilling of unemployed young people in the region.

The agreement was signed at Keetmanshoop.

The upskilling project will primarily target unemployed youth, providing specialised training and capacity-building initiatives.

Its objective is to tackle the sector-specific skills gap and enhance youth employability.

Hyphen's Head of Environment and Social Governance, Toni Beukes, said by investing in both people and institutions, the company aims to create a strong foundation for skills development.

This, Beukes added, will not only support the Hyphen project but also position ||Kharas Region as a leader in Namibia's green hydrogen economy.

"We believe that by pooling our collective expertise and resources, we can create meaningful, impactful solutions that address the unique educational challenges faced by the ||Kharas Region."

Both ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick and ||Kharas Regional Council Chairperson Joseph Isaacks witnessed the signing of the agreement.

Recently, Hyphen entered into a similar MoU with the Hardap Regional Council
