The Namibian Defence Force (NDF) has carried out its final preparations for Friday's Independence celebrations.
NDF spokesperson Colonel Petrus Shilumbu says that they are well prepared, with the current commander-in-chief, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, also briefed on their readiness.
"You see the troops on the ground; they are well motivated. Motivated in a sense that they want also to make history, that they have participated in this historic event whereby we are also expecting the inauguration of the incoming President, Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who will also, at the same time after the swearing-in ceremony, assume the position of being the commander and chief of the NDF."
Various heads of state, former Heads of State, Vice Presidents, and Prime Ministers will also attend the event.
Some of the highlights will be the scheduled parade by the Namibian Defence Force, a flypast and airdrop, an equipment display by the army, as well as a 21-gun salute in honour of the outgoing president and another for the incoming president.
